Things that make you go Hmm...

Sean Holman reports that BC Liberal MLA and House Speaker Bill Barisoff "shares his Victoria accommodations with Premier Gordon Campbell - raising the eyebrows of one of the province's most seasoned political observers."

And then we have Vaughn Palmer reporting on his blog "A standing or recorded vote is the usual way that members put themselves on the record for or against a controversial measure.

Up spoke Speaker of the legislature Bill Barisoff with a procedural note of caution.

Barisoff began by observing that in the usual circumstances, any member can call for a recorded vote and it will be done. But in this instance, the house was operating under the government motion which was passed the day before. As well as limiting the amount of time remaining for debate, it dictated that most votes would be held under a procedural rule (Practice Recommendation #1 to give it the proper name) that does not permit formal recorded votes

The NDP is going to be just as bad if they don't pledge to get rid of this HST should they become government and Tieleman gets his original job back.

Face reality. The NDP isn't going to do anything in regards to the HST and after Thursday, it will be up to them to decide what they want to do with it, since the Liberals won't.

Vander Zalm says
"It is outright dictatorship and they must be stopped before this peaceful revolt against them turns ugly. They are doing everything in their power to try to intimidate people from participating in democracy"

Fortunately they can't be stopped by this peaceful "action" (let's not call it revolt because it isn't) but it could possibly wake people up to the realization that if we want to get rid of Campbell we might have to actually get rid of Campbell. I like ugly, works better than democracy. Hopefully the people won't be intimidated, they'll wise up and walk away from democracy on their own.
