I attended today's Basi-Virk pre-trial hearing for a lengthy discussion of yet more disclosure issues surrounding police investigation reports and solicitor-client privilege but haven't got time to file a posting today.
Please have patience and I hope to do so sometime Thursday afternoon.
In any case, I can tell you that you won't find a report anywhere else, as I was the only media person there!
Your humble and overworked BC Legislature Raid correspondent.

THANK YOU
.
Humble, yes.
Overworked, yes.
Very much appreciated, yes!
Looking forward to your report tomorrow afternoon, and learning more about the mysterious Josiah Wood.

I have a question Bill. If you hadn't been able to attend would we have been able to get any info?
This is why it is so important to have the average citizen in that courtroom. Citizens who can report what is happening there and get it out to the bloggers. Not only is their input invaluable but their perspective is also valued. I can tell you that the only times I was able to go I picked up on some things that weren't reported. There is a lot of body language going on that actually helps people understand better the goings on in this case.
The NDP could take Oppal's riding. Stonewally should be linked to dark prosecutor tactics. The Defence has to squeeze each and every piece of information from them. And each thing they squeeze brings up more areas for discovery. I blame Oppal for this gross mismanagement of this case. Don't forget that he ordered an appeal of the Picton' sentence, and blamed a jury for the questionable management by the trial adjudicator. Stonewally or Smearwally. I would suggest he point the finger at persons other than those who pay his salary.
For those who don't know, retained attornies bill monthly for expenses (service, photocopying, filing, and other incidentals), even where attorney fees are deferred. Those expenses add up.

To anonymous 10:59,
About those billed expenses: who, in the Basi-Virk trial, qualifies as a "retained attorney"? Are there platoons of them surrounding each of the Crown and defence lawyers?
To Gary E,
I certainly agree with your assessment of the invaluable perspective of Citizen Journalists. They always provide something human and warmly understandable -- homely observations which Big Media would discard. Including how many people show up in the public galleries. Whether Dave Basi looked gloomy(no way) or like the Maitre d' (yep!) Whether the judge began to look p'd off, etc.
.
THANK YOU!
