Columnist Bill Bell at the North Shore News has said some very flattering things about this blog and my coverage of the Basi-Virk/BC Legislature Raid case in today's edition.
Here is an excerpt from his column:
"There are some blogs that do go beyond the news headlines and analysis that you find in newspapers and magazines. One of those is run by Bill Tieleman, who writes a weekly column for a Vancouver newspaper. His blog site coverage of the Basi-Virk trial is the most in depth treatment of one of British Columbia's biggest political scandals......"
"Although the major media in this circumstance has been giving the case significant coverage, Tieleman's reports on his blog have been outstanding. The entire cut and thrust of legal wrangling and arguments has been covered and is accompanied by considered analysis.
Tieleman also monitors his board carefully, weeds out postings but allowing a free flow of discussion."
See the whole column, which includes an interesting discussion of anonymous postings and other challenges facing blogs, by clicking here.

yes yes ***********************************************************************************************************888888888888888888888**************** Yes I agree with the column in many ways however where is this major media coverage he is talking about?
Where is the major media coverage?
There was the Tom Hawthorne piece in the Grope and Flail and isnt the North Shore News owned by a cast of Apsersions?
Could something be happening here?
And what's with the story about the rise in drinking drivers on BC roads? Will somebody do a followup with the Gordo angle, Bill? (Or Bill, for that matter.)
Way to go Bill. some of us appreciate your coverage, and the time spent in court to bring the story to us all
.
North Shore News also says ... "Too many owners of blogs fail to regulate themselves, allowing people to discredit their hard work. Lazy? Hidden agendas? Who knows? But the owners should be held responsible for what appears on their board, just as newspaper editors are responsible for what is printed in their newspapers"
Agreed, Bill T., there was ONE nice paragraph and congratulations on that.
But I guess the CanWest colony must keep paying their dues ... even if it means contradicting themselves.
I mean: how can they accuse blog owners of being LAZY and in the next breath, of allowing commentors to "discredit their HARD WORK" ... ??
As for newspaper editors being "responsible for what is printed in their newspapers" ... huh, tell us another one, NSN.
Harrumph.
.
Divide and conquer?
"As for newspaper editors being "responsible for what is printed in their newspapers"
This statement includes responsibility for lies, mis-representations and GLARING omissions, also, I would assume!
Or perhaps the statement should have read:
"responsible for what is printed and/or not printed in their newspapers"
Bill Bell has the right to publish his thoughts freely, some don't! To post anonymously, is to provoke debate, when the truth is hidden!
Nice plug for across the North Shore Bill T.
Would it have killed them to include a URL? I guess it would as the entire article was a link to tickets.com or some such invasive marketing garbage.
This article is so bad and so wrong on so many levels I feel moved to write Bill B a letter about it.
I remember Bill Bell from highschool (and we graduated a long time ago). It's obvious he's getting old and does not want his comfort zone rocked. Libel and slander. Is someone feeling litigious?
Bill B. You can always vote with your mouse and not visit those offending blogs again. Or at the very least not read the comments with poor spelling or grammar. It takes a wee bit of practice but it has been a well know rule online for some time now.

ps: Major media coverage? Ha ha ho haha!
Oh Bill T, Mary, Kootcoot, Ross K, Robin and the rest, including anon-o-mice, who continue to work so hard to bring us the truth, we are honestly grateful. BVB has opened many people's eyes to to the truth of many different things, not the least of which is the rot in Victoria and just how deep, wide and high it is.

Bill B.
I'm running incognito these days... you wouldn't recognize me:) The letter is being drafted as we speak.
I just remember you being a whole lot more fun than worrying about a few trolls who misspell a few words.
About that major media coverage? Where in the world did you find it? Share pls.
